Covid-19: J&K witnesses third death, as 15 more test positive, total cases 125 | KNO

Over 1000 samples of suspected patients taken in last one week, say officials

Srinagar, Apr 07 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday witnessed third Covid-19 death even as positive cases continued to soar with 15 more cases testing positive for the deadly pandemic-Coronavirus. With the fresh 15 cases, total number of positive cases in J&K have reached 125 of which 24 are from Jammu and 94 from Kashmir. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Government spokesman, Rohit Kansal in his tweet informed that more 15 patients have been tested positive today, saying that nine among them have been detected in Valley while the rest of six were detected in Jammu region. He informed that the tall of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 125, including four recoveries and three deaths, saying that the number of active cases across the Union Territory has gone up to 118. Kansal further stated that out of 118 active cases, 24 cases are in Jammu region while as 94 cases are in Kashmir. Aggressive contact tracing; red zones to continue," Kansal tweeted. Official sources said that three kids between age 9 and 11 years and their 10 year-old cousin of Alamdar colony Lalbazar area were among the persons, who were tested positive today. Meanwhile, Kashmir reported its third death related to Covid-19 on Tuesday after a Bandipora man, tested positive for Coronavirus, breathed his last at SMHS Hospital this afternoon. The 60-year-old man was admitted to SMHS Hospital on Monday after his condition deteriorated at home in Bandipora, officials said Doctors at SMHS hospital suspected him of having Coronavirus so they sent his samples for testing which came positive this afternoon hours before his death. Pertinently a 50-year-old man, covid-19 positive patient from Tangmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district died at Chest Disease hospital Srinagar on March 29. On March 25, a-65-year old Tableegi Jamaat preacher from Hyderpora area of Srinagar became the first person who died of Covid-19 in Kashmir. 'Meanwhile government has tracked 22,712 suspected persons during last one week and have been put under observation in order to contain covid 19", officials said. Nodal officer for coronavirus at SKIMS Dr G H Yatoo told KNO that today reports of 5 more patients admitted at SKIMS came positive today and samples of many more suspected patients were taken and sent for reports. Dr Naveed Ahmad Shah Head of department Chest Disease hospital told KNO that 21 positive patients of covid-19 are undergoing treatment at the hospital and repeated tests of seven patients who have been recovering are being conducted and hopefully they will come negative again. He further added that three suspected patients were shifted from SMHS to CD hospital today whose reports are yet to come. Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir Medical Superintendent District hospital Pulwama told KNO that today samples of 27 suspected patients including 12 from Shopian and 15 from Pulwama were taken and sent for reports. They said that out of 25, reports of only six samples are yet are come while as reports of 19 samples have came negative. As per the daily information bulletin 37,713 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 9, 213 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 114 persons are in hospital isolation while as 567 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 7,084 persons have completed surveillance period and 20,735 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 1,900 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 1900, the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,763 while as 125 have been tested positive among them four including three from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division have recovered and three positive patients from Kashmir division have died, besides that reports of 12 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
